Senior Software Engineer

Senior Software Engineer
Sage is a global company with a local heart. The market leader for cloud-based accounting, financials, enterprise management, people, and payroll software, we empower the world’s business heroes—from single-person startups to large enterprises. Our people are passionate and positive. We inspire our colleagues to serve business builders everywhere and champion their success. As a FTSE 100 company with 14,000 colleagues across 24 countries, we do business the right way, while giving back to our local communities through the Sage Foundation. Sage is passionate about building a culture where our colleagues feel they can bring their whole selves to work. Where people know they’ll be judged on their performance and behaviours - not their identity. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against based on their race, color, age, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or veteran status.
Looking to accelerate your career? Develop new skills? Make a real difference to customers and communities?

You’ll be joining a team of developers, designers, testers and analysts that are working on one of the world’s largest online business platform – a global product that is used by start-ups, entrepreneurs and business builders the world over. As a Senior Engineer you'll help coach, mentor and develop other team members.

Your first 12 months will look something like this:

• You’ll join us in a .NET environment but we have a number of technologies we use that include... Ruby, Rails, Sinatra, ReactJS (unless you know it already, in which case you might help others learn)
• Work with our very own component library (Carbon), built on ReactJS.
• Start developing microservices in a containerised environment that are deployed into the cloud (AWS)
• Coach and mentor other developers, sharing your knowledge and experience
• You’ll release software to thousands of users across 7 countries
• Continue your self-development – via dedicated learning days & attending conferences/meet-ups. (Many of our colleagues speak at conferences)
• Make a difference to the communities we live and work in with your 5 volunteer days every year
• [Optional] – join the on-site gym, join the Sage running club, the Sage chess club, the Sage Book club, or start your own club!

Our engineers don't just churn out lines of code in the dark. They’re problem-solvers and thinkers, coming up with creative solutions to complex problems. We aren’t too concerned about what languages you’ve used in the past – if you have experience in an object-orientated language, you understand Agile development, and have an appetite to join a team of engineers that really care about what they do, we’d love to have a chat.
